Your 700p always receives? Confused Which carrier? And what software rev does Phone App->Phone Info show?

There's no actual bug in CS Fax for receiving on the 700p. The problem is the 700p's release of PalmOS that introduced a bug.

The 700p changes are in a research build. We're going to bring them back for a production build but it's going to take a bit.

Odd. Would still appreciate it if you could pull up that software rev information. Also, do you know if you're in an EVDO service area or not? (Supposedly noteable by two vertically-oriented blue triagles by signal strength meter, versus the green horizontal ones from before.)

Ok, for the hearty explorers, we have a 700p test build.

Note that this is NOT exhaustively tested! Not even close. But if you have to/want to/gotta try it now, contact support@conklinsystems.com with the same email you're registered with, refer to this thread, and we'll see if this build doesn't send faxes for some other people as well as it has been in-house.

Ok, we've got mixed feedback on the new build, but it definitely fixes the 700p issues for at least some users. One user, whose unit behaves slightly differently, it doesn't help. We're still looking at it but at this point we have success reports on both Verizon and Sprint.

We'd like to expand the pool of testers, so by all means if you have a 700p drop support a line to get this build to test.

An update on the test results. It appears there may be more than one issue with the 700p and it's not carrier specific. However from the feedback so far there appears to be a trend.

The 700p won't dial, apparently for 2 different reasons. In some cases, when dialed the 700p returns ERROR. These cases appear to be covered by the fix. In other cases, the Treo 700p reports NO CARRIER. These cases still don't seem to be able to make fax calls.

Since it's not carrier specific, we are entertaining the possibility that this might be true and that there really is no carrier at the location being tested. It may be that the EVDO network does not have full fax functionality on all towers.

As such, we ask people to include their location with their success/failure reports, until we can either verify or rule out this possibility.

Thanks to all for the success/failure updates that have come in. A question for the 700p owners that are receiving the NO CARRIER message - have any of you applied Palm's 700p Raw IR Update patch? (The link takes you to Palm's page for it.)

Yes, I have the IR patch installed and still get the NO CARRIER message. It is interesting to note that I was able to dial out once a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't been able to repeat it since. I'm on Sprint in Central FL.

When you were able to dial out, did you happen to be in a different location?

Unfortunately there's not much to go on here. If you do happen to have another fax go through, please send us a log of that session.

I not able to send a fax but no problem receiving faxes. What I do not understand is if there was a tower problem I should not be able to receive or send.

I hope there is a fix soon so we can send and receive faxes.

Typically the vast majority of forum users don't post. As regards to the MR update, it was pulled very quickly after it was posted so I don't think many people actually installed it yet.

The Treo 700p patch has worked for the majority of users. There's still no discernable pattern as to who's devices will or won't be able to send faxes. The only repeatable things we found were that everyone in Michigan is able to fax, but no one in Orlando is able to fax. This begs the question, what happens if one of the users from Orlando tries to send a fax in Michigan or vice-versa, but we don't know yet.

In the meantime, since the 700p patch works for most users, it has been released as beta 3.0.9, along with updates to support the 755p. Thanks to everyone in the thread for the help along the way, and we welcome more reports as we try and identify this issue, which also affects the 755p and thus almost certainly is related to the new EVDO chipset.

I tried installing the 3.0.9 version on my 700p, but I'm having problems. First, when I do install it, it messes up the icons on the application launcher. The CSFax icon seems to be corrupted. I get a random pattern which overwrites other icons as well. This only happens when the CSFax icon is selected. I can send a picture of the problem. Second, it crashes when I try to start it. I've uninstalled(deleted all CSFax files), reloaded 3.0.1(which works), and tried to upgrade to 3.0.9. But I get the same results. Can I upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.0.9? The older versions(i.e. 3.0.8, 3.0.7, 3.0.5, etc.) are not available anymore. I think you changed the file format in version 3.0.5. How do I delete all saved faxes? Maybe that is the problem.

Sorry, it's not your fault. For reasons we haven't tracked down, the web server is interpreting the CSFax309.prc file as text, or something like that, so the file is coming in corrupted.

We have replaced the 309 PRC with 309 in a .ZIP file for now as a workaround.

Note: 3.0.1 and the beta releases including 3.0.9 do not use a compatible in-memory format, so you must delete any in-memory faxes before installing the later releases. If you have already switched to using the beta releases, you can always export your faxes to your storage card as a backup when upgrading.
