I just downloaded the demo version of CS online and am trying to get it to connect to a Socket Bluetooth Cordless serial adaptor. I keep getting the following error right after entering the device passkey : Communications Error
(Serial: (0x030C))

Any ideas what is going wrong?

Thanks,
Rick

Should be a no-brainer, that's one of the devices we use in house. I don't think we even had to adjust the settings, but you might want to install the PC client for setting up the adapter.

There's no need to pair with the device for this particular function, in fact, it can be problematic. Did you set it up as a paired/secured device?

Yes. The problem occurs when I try to go online. CS online asks for the key and after a second or two I get the above error message.

Thanks,
Rick

I just checked and there doesn't seem to be a way to take the CSA back to its "factory fresh" configuration.

I did remove the security options and it seems to be working now.

I had used the original Mark/Space Online for years with a serial cable but this is going to be much easier. Guess it's time to upgrade. Is there a version that allows for more macros?

Thanks for info.

CS Online didn't expand the macro directory since the real constraint there is screen space to choose the macro from, but you might want to look at the buffered input mode. It includes a command history that, in command prompt applications in particular, can reduce the need for some macros. It's not really a replacement but a different technology (client side command caching.)

If you're using a Symbol scanner unit and enable scanner support, then there is also a separate macro that is played when you press the scan button. It doesn't necessarily have to include scan data.
