| Is it possible for a Palm to have GPS navigation functions by simply installing an off-board navigation software and adding an external GPS receiver? I was thinking to download the Nav4All off-board navigation software, which is originally designed for cell phones, and installed on my Palm, yet I'm not so sure if it's gonna fit, I mean, I know even some cell phone models don't work properly after installation of Nav4All, such as Nokia N70, but is it okay at least in theory, that Nav4All can also help Palm to pinpoint the holder's location? |

If you already have a GPS, yes, there are several Palm GPS software-only solutions. One of the most popular is TomTom Navigator, which is also the software bundled with the palmOne Navigator pack.
The laptop/desktop GPS company Delorme also makes handheld software. I'm not sure how good their PDA solution is but their PC software is great. From the look of it, Delorme is still PC-centric and just allows you to download sections of the (large) PC database on to your handheld. Still, they include both Palm and PocketPC versions in their product, and you may also get a working laptop version. PDA navigation works, but if you have a laptop available, the larger screen is better to work with.
I'm sure other users can suggest other GPS software options. |
