HI AND GOOD EVENING:
HAVE BEEN USING FAX V2, WITH MY OLD AND TRUSTY SPH I-300. COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK WITH MY SPH I-550 ( TWO CELL PHONES, NUTS), BUT I NEED TO FAX ABOUT 20 TIMES A DAY FORM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC TO ALMOST ANY COUNTRY IN LATIN AMERICA.
I NEED AND UPDATE TO THIS SOFTWARE TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH MY NEW TREO 650.
HAPPY TO SEE THAT SOMEONE HAS HAD THE BRAINS TO CONTINUE WITH THIS SOFTWARE. PLEASE RELEASE SOON AND MAKE IT WORK WITH MY TREO. ( I WILL TRY TO MAKE IT WORK WITH V-2 AND VERIZON)

I got Cs FAx to work on my treo650 (cingular) with latest update today. 12/28/05.
But in order for it to work I had to call cingular and they have a feature they will add to your line for like 3 dollars a month. Before cingular did this I couldnt send a fax at all. Its like a phone line service ... that you could call out on . almost like a lan line. its pretty neat . Keep in mind however when you activate this service under modem settings you need to pull down the menu where it says GSM ... and select PHONELINE.
walla it will now work .
Receiving faxes on the treo650 I have not been lucky with. I tried diffrent settings and need help here.
anyone have an answer? Please email me at putintangz@insightbb.com
or find me on msn , turboz77@hotmail.com
Peace ~ |

Currently there is an issue with Treo GSM units such that they can send, but not receive. It's mentioned both on the product page and in the release notes.
Besides the technical issue with the Treo itself, you also need an incoming fax number on your GSM account. When you got your CSD circuit (which allows you to send a fax) you are actually assigned a second phone number that you use to receive faxes on. GSM uses the unique phone numbers to identify whether a call is a fax or voice call. You'll want to call your provider and have them tell you the new number.
And actually, if your plan costs $3/mn, you probably also received a data line as well. This means you actually have 3 phone numbers, one each for voice calls, fax, and data. That also means you can use a terminal emulation package like CS Online to call into other computer systems like BBSes, building control systems, etc. |

Just got off the phone with Cingular, their tech department states they no longer support fax capabilities at all. Those who previously had a csd circuit were grandfathered and can still do it, those of us who didn't can not. Do you know of any other way to utilize this fax software on my phone, or any method of faxing from my Treo 650? |

If that's official Cingular policy, it must be new, since some CS Fax users have ordered fax service only recently (last couple of months.) It's also a bit of a surprise since they won't only take down fax capacity, that will also mean Cingular devices can't be used to dial into to modems. We have quite a lot of CS Online users using Treos to dial into building control systems, alarm systems, etc, which will be disabled too.
As such, I wonder if it's really a new policy, or just a line that that representative handed out in order to push you into more expensive data plans.
As for using CS Fax without the modem, the new beta allows for TIFF export and, to some extent, import, which could be used in conjunction with the expensive email-to-fax services. However it doesn't import the TIFFs generated by eFax (for example,) though we do plan to expand the TIFF import to handle more TIFF types. |

I have the three phone numbers, I can send but not receive, do I need to change setups somewhere for the GSM Treo 650 to work?
Thank you. |

CS Fax currently does not support receive on GSM units. This issue is still being worked on. It's mentioned right on the main CS Fax page. |
