It's been years since the original PalmPilot and Palm III-family cradles that had the problem that led to battery drain, our fix, and the famous Drain Fix page.

Palm eventually moved to USB connections for syncing, mostly, with a variety of USB and USB/serial combination connectors. However none of these later units are affected by the cradle drain.

The Palm Drainfix instructions are maintained because there are still a surprising number of Palm IIIs in use. Later model Palms don't have complete serial port implementations, and so older devices remain popular in scientific and industrial control applications, but the majority of Palm owners today have nothing to worry about. If you model isn't specifically listed on the Drainfix page, then you do not have a cradle drain issue.
