Hi.

First, your product proved to be quite useful. However when i purchased it i was using my Nokia 5140i through IR to recieve faxes and it worked flawlesly. Now i have the samsung D900 which only has bluetooth and i cannot figure out how to set it up to work with my LifeDrive and CS FAX.
Other functions like dialing a number from the contact list in the lifedrive work but need help to configure CS FAX to work with the D900.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

Normally, using CS Fax over a cellphone is quite simple. Simply select Bluetooth and the device you wish to pair with. Unfortunately though there are issues with the Palm Bluetooth serial stack and certain cellphones, Motorolas in particular, which cause problems, typically making it unable to connect. Remote dialing and audio features are different protocols than the serial port protocol and thus may work even while serial out doesn't.

We have not verified at this time that the Samsung D900 is an affected device, so please contact tech support where they can go over the specifics of your configuration.

Thanks for the reply.

I will contact tech support, however i thought that it could be useful to inlcude the message given to me by CS Fax when i press "recieve fax" from the menu, initialisation starts and after it shows on the screen the message "switching to fax mode" another message pops up saying that "the modem is not a class 2 fax modem,. Try class2.0 instead.

I switch to class 2.0 in the settings and then the message "the modem is not a class2.0 fax modem. Try class 2 instead."

What does this mean and what is the difference between class2 and class2.0

Thanks.

Class 2 and Class 2.0 are different 'dialects' of fax modems, and any given modem manufacturer may implement both, either or neither.

However, to get that error message CS Fax will have to have started talking to the modem, which means that your Bluetooth connection is up and working. It may be simply that your new phone actually doesn't have faxmodem support. We can tell that from the logs.

Thanks for the log, that explains a lot.

On a good note, CS Fax is talking to the D900 just fine. Unfortunately, this particular phone is not a fax-capable phone. The phone is voice-only.
(FCLASS: 0)

If you have the option, you might want to look at a comparable Samsung device, since the Bluetooth works with Palm.
