Before you install CS SDrv, you should make a copy of the original disk and/or files and store the originals in a safe place, along with your registration code. Use a copy to install CS SDrv from your Windows or Macintosh via InstallApp, Palm Desktop or similar program during your next HotSync session.

When you first run your new software, you'll need to enter a registration code (received via e-mail and at checkout). Enter your registration number to fully enable the software, or tap "Demo" to use as a demo.

If you'd like to share CS SDrv with another Palm user, feel free! You can safely beam them a copy Palm-to-Palm over infrared to try. Not to worry, the receiver's copy will automatically turn into a fully functional trial copy, and your registration code will stay on your device.

About the Demo Version

The demo version of CS SDrv provides a 30 day evaluation period, then it will stop functioning. Also, unregistered copies will only power the SD port for a limited time. To purchase a registration code, please visit our online store. Once purchased, you will receive a registration code at check out and via e-mail.

What Now

To learn more about each of the settings and how to configure CS SDrv, read the following Setup section. For general information, read Using SDrv.

Using CS SDrv
Main Screen

When CS SDrv first starts, you will be presented with the main screen. The large button in the center of the screen toggles SD slot power on and off.

Once you've turned the power on, SDrv will maintain the power to the SD slot, even as you use other applications. For example, with a SD-based GPS, one you have powered up the power, you can switch to your favorite GPS application.

If you reset your device, you will need to use SDrv to re-enable the power. Power is turned off during a device reset.

If your copy of CS SDrv is unregistered, there will be a reminder on the lower left of the screen that CS SDrv is running in demo mode.

About SDrv

The About SDrv screen has contact information for contacting Conklin Systems. In the lower right corner there is the version number for the version of SDrv that you have installed. Please give this number whenever you contact support, or to see if you have the latest version installed.

Unregistered Mode

CS SDrv is provided as a free trial copy. When first installed, it is running in unregistered or 'demo' mode. You can try CS SDrv for up to 30 days, after which it will no longer run.

While in Unregistered mode, CS SDrv will only power the SD slot for a limited time. There's enough time for most GPSes to get a fix, and for you to switch to your favorite GPS software. After the demo time is up, the message to the right appears, and power to the slot is turned back off. You can simply turn power back on if you want to run more tests.

Register

If you like CS SDrv and it does what you need, purchase a registration code from the Conklin Systems Online Store.

A registration code is tied to your device's HotSync ID. This is the name you gave your device the first time you used Hotsync to back your unit up on your PC. The Conklin Systems store will ask for your hotsync ID when go to purchase a registration code. For your convenience, you can start CS SDrv and pull up the Registration screen to see what your code or device ID is.

Menu Reference

Some commands can be referenced from the SDrv menu bar. How you access the menu bar varies from device to device, so not all of the following options will work on your unit. You can:

While the image and name of the menu button is different from unit to unit, the location is always generally to the lower left of the grafitti area.
